@simon_hall_1620 achieved an astonishing performance last weekend in the 25-mile time-trial held in Wales. Obliterating his personal best, Si achieved an unbelievable time of 50:08! Anything under 70 minutes is already impressive, but to be a 50-minute man is exceptional. The event, organised by Cycling Time-Trials, featured an out-and-back course through Monmouthshire, and is known for its speed potential. Hitting the 10-mile mark in just 19:04 (unofficial PB), averaging 300 watts, Si then maintained a further 296 watts for the final 15-miles, resulting in an overall average of 298 watts and a remarkable speed of nearly 30 mph throughout the trial.
You might be wondering how Si achieved such a stellar performance. His consistency in S&C has helped, as he has been lifting a slightly heavier kettlebell in various exercises. Additionally, a unique walking backward drill he discovered last November while recovering from an Achilles issue may have contributed to his success. Could this practice have improved his flexibility and strength in the hamstrings enhancing his overall performance? Who knows, but I’m sure Si will undoubtedly be aiming to break the 50-minute barrier In his next endeavour!
